The Sunday Paper

"The Sunday Paper" Oil on Canvas  /  48" X 72"  /  1997
""Sunday Paper" is the largest easel painting done so far in my studio. The piece measures 48" x 72" and took approximately 5 months to complete. I usually work on one painting at a time until completed. I start by constructing the interior inside the studio according to some concept I want to illustrate. This process can take anywhere from a day to a week depending on many factors and is the most nerve racking part of the whole painting process. Objects are placed and replaced for the sake of both composition and narrative concerns until everything is just right. Then a fairly detailed line drawing is made to serve as a compositional groundwork for the actual painting. I also use telephoto snapshots to help to see the details in the smaller objects."

Available as a Limited Edition Giclée Print
